There’s something so dreamy about a beach at golden hour, especially when it’s paired with a love story straight out of a romcom.
When I met these two, I knew immediately that their story had to be shared. Not only do they have the kind of chemistry that makes photographing them feel effortless, but their meet-cute? SO GOOD. (And if you know me, you know I live for a good romcom moment.)
They both work in the marine industry, she’s a marine engineer and he works for Caterpillar as a marine technician. Their story started on a boat (how much more “Notebook” can it get?), when he came aboard to help with repairs. She noticed him immediately, but didn’t say anything since she was on the clock and figured she’d never see him again.
Plot twist: the boat got delayed, and they needed someone to come back out, and guess who showed up again? Yep. Him.
She handed him her number under the pretense of needing pictures for a part she fixed (smooth move, 10/10), and told herself: If he texts, he texts. And…he did. One date before he left and the rest was history, they’ve been together ever since.
For this session, we met up in Sandbridge, VA, just south of Virginia Beach. It was my first time there and now one of my favorite beach locations, wide open skies, rolling waves, and soft, golden light that makes every moment feel like a movie still. They showed up in perfectly coordinated light blue outfits that looked stunning against the beachy tones. And of course—they brought their sweet dog, Kaenix, who absolutely stole the show and added even more personality to an already adorable session.
Between the laughter, the quiet moments, and the paw prints in the sand, this shoot was everything I love about capturing couples: honest connection, shared joy, and a little bit of adventure.
